On Tuesday, August 4th the country of Lebanon was devastated by a 2,750 ton blast of Ammonium Nitrate exploding in the Beirut port. This port is responsible for the shipment of 80% of all agricultural imports for the nation. Since the explosion, over 70 individuals have passed away with 4,000 additional inhabitants critically injured. The blast occurred in the midst of the COVID epidemic and a deteriorating economy.
Due to the economic crisis, the country has been dealing with a rapidly escalating issue of poverty, with the World Bank estimating over 45% of the country currently living below the poverty line. This is a result of hyperinflation, where the value of the Lebanese Lira is now worth 16% of what it was a year ago.
Our hearts are with Lebanon during these times, and have been actively finding ways to support. We are currently in the process of connecting with resources on the ground to provide aid for various relief efforts. For the time being, please donate what you can. All proceeds will go to supporting those affected in Lebanon.
